Doggerland Chronicles – North sea surf Project
Project:For most people the North Sea is a source of food, a source of fuel – oil and gas, a playground for catching waves or simply a mass of water that needs to be navigated. Few are aware its these cold grey waters cover a prehistoric landscape that once joined England to Europe. Yet between 18000 and 5500 BC, global warming raised sea levels to the extent that this area known as Doggerland was engulfed by water and the area that had been home to mankind disappeared. This entire land sank beneath the North Sea. Is it this former land that we North Sea surfers now surf.
We are the Doggerland groms, heavies, hippies and kooks.
A good friend of mine, Chris McClean has been running the Doggerland Blog for some time nowits all about north sea surfing and the lifestyle that comes with it. He’s had an idea of turning this into a film, with a book to compliment it for some time now. He got in touch with me, to ask if I would be interested in this film making, soul surfing adventure, so of course I jumped on board straight away.
The two of us will be starting this adventure Mid April where we we be heading off to Swedon and Norway to shoot the first leg of the film. We are alson aiming at entering this short film into the London Surf Film Festival. This short film will be a stand alone project and will be used as our promo, to hopefully get some investors on board to make this idea come to life
I will be updating this blog throughout the adventure of this projects
